Clear Film Protection
Self-healing SunTek and XPEL film on certain panels or the whole car, against rocks, salt and insects. 5-year or 10-year limited warranty.
Chapter 01
The front end takes the beating
Clear Film Protection, often called Clear Bra, is a transparent film that goes over your paint so the road hits the film first. It is aimed at the things that wear a car down in a Connecticut driving year: rocks thrown up by the car ahead, winter salt, insects and the rest of the road debris that lands on the nose of the car.
That is why the front end is where most people start. The bumper, the leading edge of the hood, the fenders and the mirrors face the traffic. You can protect certain panels, or you can protect all panels of the vehicle. Which one fits your car is a conversation, and at Performance Plus Detailing in New Milford that conversation is a free, in-person consultation with no packages to choose from.

SunTek and XPEL, self-healing and gloss
We use high quality film from SunTek and XPEL. Both are self-healing, which means they resist scratches and cracks, and both come in a high gloss finish, so the film reads as paint rather than as a layer on top of it.
Film is only as good as the surface it is laid on, because it locks in what is underneath. A car with swirls or etching in the clear coat should be looked at first, which is where paint correction comes in. The consultation covers what your paint needs before film goes on, and it is worked out panel by panel with the car in front of us.
Chapter 03
Warranty and living with it
SunTek and XPEL offer either a 5-year or a 10-year limited warranty on their films. Which film suits your car, and which panels it covers, is settled at the consultation.
Film pairs well with the rest of the shop's protection work. Many owners put a ceramic coating on the panels that stay bare, or add tint to the glass for UV and heat. Ask about care at the consultation, and if you get our voicemail, leave a message at the number below. The shop is loud and calls are hard to hear, but every one is returned.

Prep decides how it looks
Film sits on top of the paint, so the paint should be right first. If your car has swirls or water spots, read about paint correction, and if you plan to protect the panels the film does not cover, see ceramic paint coatings. You can also ask about XPEL window tint for the glass in the same visit.
